On the pages of our site we have repeatedly raised the issue of portable speaker choosing. In this market segment there is more than enough offerings ranging from cheap speaker powered by USB,and ending with well-known brand gadgets which prices aren’t less than a prices of good multimedia stereo.

But whatever the case may be compact, the one drawback, requiring a stationary power, combines such number of speaker. The solution to this problem is on the surface, so to achieve the true mobility it is enough to equip a system with built-in battery. It’s very simple, don’t you agree? It's even surprising why something like SVEN Boogie Ball has not appeared before. The fact that the SVEN Company’s novelty was not just interesting But also inexpensive item is particularly pleased. The modern market is full of different gadgets, but sometimes the high price void the functionality. Not everyone is willing to pay for special acoustics to his mobile, for example, when it costs not much smaller than the mobile phone does, or the prices are comparable. The Boogie Ball is perfect in this case because it can be purchased for only $ 13.

Delivery

Thus, the device is sold in small plastic bag, inside you can find out:

  • SVEN Boogie Ball;
  • five different adapters;
  • cable for connection to a computer;
  • instruction.
The interface cable is a standard mini-USB - USB. The four of presented five adapters are specific, as each of it is designed to connect phones of particular brand. Naturally, these are the most popular choices - Nokia, Samsung, and SonyEricsson. The fifth adapter is equipped with 2.5 mm jack. In addition, the Boogie Ball has the 3.5mm plug, so you can connect it to any mobile device. If your phone is not included in this list, you have to purchase the necessary adapter.

Exterior

Immediately after the appearance of information about the release of a speaker, the reporters aptly noticed its resemblance to a golf or tennis ball. The dimensions of its case are 50x50x35, ,and the mass is 56 g, the ball is slightly flattened. They was used enough high-quality ABS-plastic for it, anyway, so it seemed in tactile contact. If you will fall it from low altitude it should not be broken. The red ball was in our hands, ,but it is more extensive range of colors is in the market: green, black, blue, pink, white, red.

The speaker is located on one of the flattened panels ,and covered with metal mesh. The size of the radiator is 36 mm, the installed capacity stands at 2,4 W. The interface jack to connect speaker to your computer is located in the side. Of course, that it is not for data transmission, it is only serves to recharge the built-in battery. On the opposite side is the power switch that combines the function of two-position volume level controller. In the back you can see the LED wiring ,and small entries with a 3.5 mm jack, which is neatly stowed in an improvised groove.

It remains to note the presence of small loop to be worn on a cord, ,and another interesting design feature. If you turn little halves of a speaker in opposite directions, the corps opens and inside you’ll find out something like an accordion. This system is proudly called with this combination of words - Bass Expander - ,and used to extend the frequency range. As for physics, it's simple. To use any speaker the volume is required. The inner space of Boogie Ball is very small and when you open the accordion, we are significantly increasing it, so the system starts to play better.

Impressions of using

The subjective impression of using was positive, and we can say, it was even better than expected. First of all, the sound quality was surprising. It is really difficult to expect for something worthwhile from a miniature battery acoustics. However, the Boogie Ball plays really loud and confident. The small speaker can easily exceed the built-in speaker of any mobile phone or even laptop. At the time of testing in comparison with the ASUS K50IJ, the `ball` played much better. Better in quality and better in sound.

The one battery charge lasts about 7-8 hours of listening. Of course, it is much depends on the volume of sound, ,but the battery life is significant. It is quite enough for viewing multiple movies or listening to music long. Returning to the issue of an accordion, we can say that when you open the case, the frequency range is indeed expanding. Naturally, my subjective impressions are that the frequency range is still quite narrow ,but remains more extensive than phones or laptops have.

Conclusion

As a result, the Boogie Ball is a very interesting device. This truly cheap system can easily improve the sound of any mobile phone or even a laptop. I especially want to mention an excellent battery life, which reaches 8 hours.
