HDMI cables won widespread popularity when flat LCD and plasma display panels began to supplant big paunchy kinescope TV-sets, which were named boxes as a joke. That strange connector of 1.0 version appeared in the latter end of 2002, and it was able to transmit the digitized image of high accuracy and accompanying sound. Nearly 10 years have passed, and what is today, actually, this ordinary, in no way remarkable interconnecting cable HDMI for AV devices?

The first specimens of HDMI cables were produced by venerable producers of AV devices, such as Philips, Toshiba, Panasonic, Hitachi, Thomson and some others. Naturally, their cost was not too low, especially when it was necessary to buy a cable separately. Nowadays, thanks in large part to great demand for such products these connectors are produced by apologists of High End as well, which use the most expensive materials, including precious metals, and array their items in the luxurious package.

All of this, undoubtedly, has an influence on the final cost. On the other hand, practically in any stall or pavilion, where sundries for devices are sold, you will find an unpretentious nameless clone at the price of several dollars only packed in a small turbid cellophane packet. As everyone is well aware, a miser pays twice. Taking into account the purpose of such a product, but this is the transmission of signals of the highest quality, doubtful offers of peddlers must not be taken seriously. This is also true in regard to those people, who are more careful with their money and do not wish to be tied to the chariot of cunning marketers – it must be confessed, many companies overprice too much just for such products. And the dexterous and vigorous Finnish brand Sven will help you in this case once again.

Just three HDMI cables produced by the company were delivered to our office for testing. All of them are designed to transmit digitized sound and video, but, besides the length, they differ from each other by some structural and technical features. One of them, Ethernet Flat connector 3 m long, enables among other things to transmit Ethernet signal and has the pass band up to 10.2 Gb/s (340 MHz). It also supports the color code depth up to 48 bit. Rotate cable 1.8 m long corresponds to HDMI 1.3b version; it supports the xvYCC color reproduction standard and automatic synchronization of AV signals. Its thickness is 28 AWG. Contacts of connectors of this model are gilded with 24 kt gold, and that promotes the reliability and wear resistance of connection. The tined copper of the purest purification is used as a conductor and the triple shielding protects against interference inductions. The outer sheath of this cable is made of qualitative PVC. It is necessary to observe directivity during its connection, because a connector has a noise-protecting circuit.

The design of connectors is quite interesting – they are movable and can rotate relative to the braid for 90 degrees. The conformity with HDMI 1.3b specifications indicates to the model ability to transmit control signals between components, to transmit the 3D image and accompanying sound in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats. The length of the third representative of SVEN HDMI family is equal to 3 m. It is also a high-speed (HDMI High Speed V1.3) cable with the pass band up to 10.2 Gb/s (340 MHz), which supports 48-bit color code and has oxygen-free copper conductors.

As we did not plan to carry out the comparative study of specimens, we just connected cables to the test system and tried to find any disadvantages or faults. Unfortunately, but to be more exact, fortunately, such faults were not found. All three connectors transmit the content – both the sound and image – stably and with the highest quality. The picture was the standard one within the limits of possibilities of a laboratory LCD panel. By the way, after the test one of our colleagues decided to purchase Sven HDMI High speed Ethernet Flat cable for personal needs, and that is the best recommendation.

Conclusion:

These cables are perfect inexpensive cables of different configuration of loops and heads. They have brilliant specifications and indices.

Advantages: affordable price, tight contact of the cable connectors with jacks in AV components, stable data transmission.
