Support Review and Testing of Active 2.1 SVEN MS-321 Speaker System, www.techlabs.by

SVEN MS-321 is a rare combination of a pleasant price and excellent quality. The elegant speaker system with a rather big subwoofer and full-fledged double-band satellites will not hit your wallet and will cost $ 60 only. At that, the triphonics will gladden not only with its excellent sound. The model has an interesting appearance, which combine the modern technogenity and classics, maybe, somewhere even and vintage. In general, running ahead, it should be noted that SVEN MS-321 has turned out very successful!

Package content

Standard package content besides a subwoofer and satellites consists of a signal cable with 3.5 mm plugs on two ends and 2 RCA – 3.5 mm adapter connector. Naturally, there is the User’s Manual and warranty card in the carton.

Appearance and design

From the engineering solution standpoint, MS-321 has quite a standard appearance, but the appearance has been really worked at. Front satellites and subwoofer are covered with stylish plastic plates, on which aluminum plates of natural color are fixed. It looks very suitably.

The speakers are made of MDF decorated on the outside with black vinyl film. You can see on the front panel a nonremovable protective grill, behind which a standard squawker is located. The high-frequency head on the contrary is not closed, its cone is also made of paper and that can be considered the most correct solution for this price range.

Satellites can be placed on the table – small rubber legs-tablets are envisaged for this purpose. The wall-mounting variant is also possible; holes for this purpose are available.

The case of a subwoofer is expanded rearward and the low-frequency loudspeaker is located inside, i.e. acoustic appearance in the form of a stripe resonator is used. A slot-type port at that is located on the front panel. You can see here plastic knobs as well, which are very successfully stylized under metal. By the way, when the system is in operation, they are backlighted with the nonintrusive framing.

The control of the system is realized, by the way, a little bit non-standard. The greatest knob serves to control the master volume level and two others – to regulate the tone balance. At that, the output for headphones is entirely independent, a separate knob serves to control volume level, but the timbre unit is not active for them, as well as the main loudspeakers are not disconnected automatically. Simply stated, it is possible to hear sound from the headphones and loudspeakers simultaneously.

Practical testing and listening

Specifications of the system are worthy. The unevenness of the amplitude-frequency characteristic of satellites in the range 200…10,000 Hz does not exceed ±3.5 dB. It is a very good result for this price range. There is a typical boost at high frequencies, which passes into uncritical treble cut. The subwoofer starts to be active from 45 Hz, and, we must give credit for this, with satellites it is concerted well.

The timbre at high frequencies can be controlled within narrow limits, but according to my subjective perceptions, even such depth is quite sufficient.

The total estimation of sounding is high. The system generates proper sound pressure without noticeable by ear distortions, therefore it can be used to sound even medium-size rooms. Satellites play a little bit coldly, but the timbre balance does not move away from the original greatly. The legibility is at the acceptable level. The subwoofer is also rather powerful, it is slightly apt to muttering, but it is a standard nuance of the used acoustic appearance.

Conclusion

As the result, we may say with confidence that SVEN MS-321 triphonics has lived up to our expectations and surpassed its democratic price. The system is characterized by excellent quality of manufacturing, stylish and high-capacity design and the sound at that is at the highest level.
