Continuing the review of wireless headsets, today we dwell on the new product of the market – SVEN AP-B770MV. This model presented at the end of the last year is positioned as an affordable solution for owners of smartphones and tablet PCs. Today we study features of this decision in detail.

The warm weather approaches, it is just the right time for wireless speakers, outdoor recreation, pleasant pastime on a riverside or lakeside. Music lovers and inveterate proprietors of headphones, I think, are familiar with the permanent problem of tangled wires. In MegaObzor.com Laboratory we regularly sample new products in this segment, being in the search for successful decisions. A feature of most models reviewed recently is a price tag, which cannot be named affordable. SVEN AP-B770MV just occupies the affordable niche.

Package content

The headset is supplied in the traditional white-blue cardboard package with a transparent window. There is information about specifications and main advantages of this model on the box sides.

The package content is unpretentious, a mini USB cable and the set of documentation are offered only.

Appearance

SVEN AP-B770MV is the headset of cup-shaped type. One color variation is available only – black. The main material of the case is plastic. It is strange, but in spite of its affordability, there is no loss on it.

The construction gross weight is 210 g. Pressure is not felt on long using. Manufacturing quality is high, there is no creak and backlash of details. The headband in upper part has a soft leatherette insertion without strange odors. The headband length can be increased, an internal rail is made of metal.

The joint point with cups has a movable mechanism, it is possible to turn cups through 90 degrees, and another 15 degrees to the other side. Such approach enables to select comfort position at any placing of the headset. Unfortunately, cups are not envisaged to be folded, you will not be able to carry them in a pochette. And a cover is not envisaged in the package content.

We have before us not an ordinary boring affordable headset; there is a structural picture on the outside of cups, which gives some charm to its appearance. Ear cushions are made of leatherette, not the best material, which yields to the comfort of fabric. Weeping and discomfort while carrying for more than an hour, but all of this is personal preferences and experience. You should not expect for something new in this pricing segment.

Both cups have got functional elements. There are three mechanical silvery buttons on the lower facet of each cup. Their location is successful while carrying the headset out of doors because moisture will not get there.

There is an on/off button, volume control, LED indicator to display the active connection and microphone with protective metal net on the left cup. Rewinding and Play buttons are on the right cup. Mini USB jack with rubber plug is located there as well. It is incomprehensible, why the mini USB jack has been chosen for this headset – nowadays this type of jacks becomes a thing of the past and it is rarely found on gadgets, micro USB would look much better here.

At a whole, the model makes a good showing.

Connection

SVEN AP-B770MV can operate only via wireless Bluetooth protocol; a version of wired connection is excluded. Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and AVRCP was selected as an adapter. Connection is quick, no problems with compatibility have been revealed during testing. Maximum operating range is 10 meters.

Testing

The cup-shaped construction positively affects the removal of a proprietor from external noises. Noise insulation is at high level.

For the rest you should not wait for wonders from these headsets, they will do for inexperienced users. But we conduct tests thoroughly estimating all ranges regardless of the cost. The oversaturation is marked on low frequencies with 200 Hz distortion; at redundancy the headset starts to fail. Basses in a higher frequency range vice versa have turned out understated. High frequencies are heard quite inadequately. Naturally, this can be partially corrected with the help of a sound source.

The microphone quality in SVEN AP-B770MV also corresponds to representatives of this segment, noise reduction is not envisaged and speaking is problematic at high background noise. It completely copes with its duties in everyday tasks.

During tests the music playbacked cyclically with the maximum volume level, in this mode the headset has operated 18 hours without charging. It is possible to reach up to 20 hours with average volume level.

Conclusions

SVEN AP-B770MV turned out a quite very interesting headset, with a modest budget the producer offers a long period of time of self-sufficient operation, interesting appearance, set of controls on cups and the excellent assembly quality. But this model will not be able to gladden devotees of the quality sound, whether it is needed to expect it in this price segment, not of course. Nobody has canceled professional and flag models. Most users, who took part in the test listening, were pleased with this model. I think there is only one disadvantage in the headset – mini USB jack, you will have to take one cable more with you for the road.
