Wireless speaker systems are frequent guests of MegaObzor.com Laboratory. Multi-faceted models, oriented both to the use out of doors, as well as premium-solutions, are presented at the market. Today we present the first detailed test of SVEN PS-100BL speaker system. This decision deserves attention due to the use of some original engineering decisions. We shall speak further about everything in greater detail.

The topicality of Bluetooth speaker systems will not decrease, hardly probable that producers will be able to cram acoustics of high quality in compact cases of smartphones and iPads, to say nothing of the low frequencies workup. Even the most budget-oriented system exceeds the built-in loudspeakers of flagship devices by sound quality.

The speaker system is delivered in a good carton of an attractive appearance with provided information about specifications and the picture of the device.

The package contest is modest, namely a micro USB cable and audio cable. Ideally, we would like to see a network adapter and a cover as well, but if those accessories were refused to reduce its prime cost, then we can give credit for the producer. This set is quite enough for full use.

Appearance

SVEN PS-100BL is assembled in a modest case; there are no any excess details there. Its dimensions are 195 × 35 × 115 mm and the weight is 0.44 kg. It is quite lightweight system, but you will not be able to carry it in your pocket due to its dimensions. This system is oriented to be used at home or in the office.

The only one version of the case color is available – the combination of silver and black plastics. The top and bottom parts are black, and the side verge is silver.

The top part is made of a cellular metal gauze. There is only one element there – a LED indicator in the right lower corner. In the search mode the indicator blinks frequently, during active connection via Bluetooth it blinks rarely, but in the analog input mode it lights green continuously.

There is a rubberized insertion at the bottom, due to which the speaker does not slip on the table.

One interesting solution has been applied there: a folding support with a rubberized pad. You can put in this pocket an iPad or smartphone in the position as a monitor. If you like to look movies on the sofa or lying in the bed, such position will relieve from the necessity to hold your iPad in hands.

The iPad can be placed on your worktable in the same position as well; it can be used to watch movies, for visual communication or simply for Internet-surfing with listening to your favorite music.

There is only micro USB, AUX IN and microphone jacks, ON/OFF button, volume knob and three buttons for track navigation on the side edge. We have no claims to the assembly quality; any creak or detail looseness is not observed.

Testing

It is hardly probable that SVEN PS-100BL will be interesting to audiophiles, it is necessary to take into account that it is a compact portable system after all. There will be no shocks or revelations regarding the sound quality. However, for its price category and dimensions it sounds perfectly well. The balance of high and low frequencies is observed, there is no oversaturation at all. There is the stereo effect thanks to the use of the loudspeaker duet (3 W each).

We can note the smooth launching of the midfrequency range, at the output it provides the smooth reproduction of voices and instruments in movies. There are no a lot of low frequencies, as wished it to be, but the bass is available in the limited volume.

This miniature audio system sounds quite loudly. With the maximum volume, it can provide delight of music and movies not only to you but to your neighbors as well. I think, it will be quite pertinent during watching movies or organization of a small evening party in the open.

Due to the built-in microphone, this system can be used for handsfree talking. However, the microphone is not a directional one and it is deprived of the appropriate noise reduction system, the sound is acceptable, but it is not distinguished by the purity with the availability of unwanted sounds.

SVEN PS-100BL Summary

SVEN PS-100BL left the pleasant impressions. The system will be very topical both during the use as the near-sofa speaker and during placing on the worktable at home or in the office. For the modest RUB 1,900 a buyer will get the qualitative sound, good assembling, long time of autonomous operation, a possibility of the wire or wireless connection, as well as the built-in microphone.
