Before scrutinizing this model intimately, let us do small digression and see, what different types of speaker systems have advantages and disadvantages in general. First, ordinary small 2.0 format tabletop speaker systems. The main advantage is their tiny dimensions due to which you can find a place for them without effort, for example, on monitor sides. However, all the advantages are finished thereon, because you can forget about the natural sound – small loud speakers simply are not able to reproduce low frequencies adequately, but as it is well-known the music without basses as good as soup without water. Nevertheless, if you take stereo systems of the same format, but which can playback basses, then they will be, pardon, far from being tabletop. A decision is obvious, i.e. transition to 2.1 format system. It has already had small satellites, and there are no losses at low frequencies. They have one disadvantage only. But it is great one. Subwoofer. And the more profound basses we want to get, the greater subwoofer we have to do – the laws of physics have not been annulled as yet, I enquired. So is it really possible in general to eat cake and have it?
Here, actually, taking this into consideration, let us look at SVEN MS-350BL. It is 2.1 classic format, but the subwoofer in this system, draw attention, is quite small. Moreover, judging from the number of headphone jacks on its body a manufacturer initially positions it for installation just on a table, but not for cramming somewhere under your feet. Why not anyway, its dimensions allow doing it entirely. Such a system becomes quite comparable with more serious and larger 2.0 systems by sound, but at the same time, it is much more flexible for the choice of installation place. You must admit that it is as simple as anything to find a place for two compact satellites so that to feel all the charm of stereo sound (as opposed to big column loudspeakers). But a subwoofer does not influence so significantly to stereo panorama, therefore the choice of place for it is less critical. How to you like such a decision? In my opinion, it has quite a few advantages.
But does it really not have shortcomings? Unfortunately, it has. If you want all your neighbors know all tracks by 50 Cent or, let us say, Snoop Dogg by heart, then you will have to use a «Mega bass machine» – you will not wait for shaking walls basses. It is clear as well, in this case the subwoofer is not designed for vibromassage, it rather compensates low frequencies shortage of satellites. All right, will leave alone these rappers, but, for example, it is possible to listen to any Lounge-radio station ever so very much comfortably, there is no any lameness in low frequencies at all. So, this compensation is quite good anyway. Moreover, acoustic enclosure of this woofer was adjusted so successfully that there is no excessive plangency in the sound at all, which is specific to many «adult» 2.1 systems.
Well, of course, it should not be left unmentioned functional possibilities of this set. If everything is more or less standard with wire connections, then Bluetooth module availability makes the system really multifunctional, it is possible without any extra efforts and fuss with wires to listen to music from any source which has «bluetooth» interface, whether it is a notebook, any player or smartphone. All you need to do is to switch to BT on the remote control, find SVEN function in the list of available Bluetooth-connections and to be connected. Then, by the way, it will be possible to switch back and forth even tracks from the same remote control. But the sound over Bluetooth, let us say, is not so clear and smooth, as it is over oldies wires, but you should agree, that this possibility is pleasant anyway. In short, it is quite balanced acoustics according to its possibilities. And not least – for quite reasonable price.

While this article was written, the acoustics sounded as a background with moderate level, and there was not a desire to turn it off after first 15 minutes (and such a thing, I should frankly say, can happen with many speaker system). So SVEN has managed with assigned tasks, and if you do not demand reckless home evening-parties from this set, and will really estimate its possibilities, then you will not be disappointed in it at all.
