Notwithstanding the gloomy forecasts, motherboards equipped with built-in multichannel sound and a broad range of low-end multichannel speaker systems, ordinary stereophonic sound is still there with PC as before. But in order to vie for the buyer on equal terms with the surround sound as a serious rival, even quality two-channel sound has to take on rather odd forms.
Among the chief advantages of stereophonic speakers are compact size, simplicity of connection and use. Moreover, 2.1 speaker systems (subwoofer and satellites) with performance comparable to stereo one look like low-end solution as contrasted to multichannel monsters. So, there’s still nothing that can endanger stereophonic systems within the market sector of mini- and micro-systems where buyers are not enticed by abundance of features and multichannel sound and confine themselves only to quality sound, high functionality and beautiful design.
And SVEN company, too, as an active operator on the Russian market of PC acoustics, offers a number of solutions for 2.1 speaker system (now this company releases not only multimedia systems, 5.1 and Hi-Fi-systems, but also high-end solutions).
Not long ago yet another novelty was introduced - a low-end compact 2.1 Sven Emotion speaker system composed of two handsome satellites and a subwoofer in wooden (MDF) cabinet with bass reflex on its side panel. Such design ensures clear and rich sound performance across the whole range of reproducible frequencies, makes difference as being minimalistic and easy-to-operate (all controls boil down to volume and tone control knobs located on back panel of the cabinet). SVEN Emotion speaker system is easily pluggable to PC, laptop, MP3/CD/VCD/DVD players and other external sound sources (to audio playback units the system is connectable via a subwoofer’s 3.5 mm mini-jack while the satellite connectors on the subwoofer’s back panel via RCA jacks). Thanks to magnetic screening the speaker system can be safely placed near the monitor as it generates no interference at all.
As far as sound performance is concerned, the initial and middle Hi-Fi performance with PC is certainly attainable, and in low-end market this turns to be even a bit less expensive than stationary audiophile performance. But computer as a highly integrated and universal device is hardly fit for top-level Hi-Fi, let alone Hi-End performance. Of course, with the digital connection to a pro sound card and utilization of a high-quality DAC it’s possible to achieve high results, but then you will have to deal with such problems as PC’s own noise suppression. And as far as studio quality record is concerned, it is extremely hard to achieve it with PC, be the audio capture quality ever so high.
That’s why most popular with PC users are the solutions from a rather modest price range also comprising the above mentioned Sven Emotion speaker system which may be purchased for less than one thousand rubles. Stylish midget system with two slim satellites will be seen to advantage when on table near flat LCD or laptop. For better blending with home electronics the system is offered in two color schemes: black (Emotion Black) and silver (Emotion Silver).
As for sound performance, Sven Emotion system possesses a decent power reserve enough to flood even a large room with deep bass. It yields an excellent dynamic performance both for playback of different music styles, for sounding movies and computer games effects. In other words, SVEN Emotion is a multipurpose home speaker system.
However, today the difference between the top multimedia and low-end Hi-Fi systems is rather imaginary, and SVEN products add to its disappearance.
