A new thing is able to surprise, however, after becoming a mass and ordinary thing, it fails in everyday vanity and is forgotten. This seemingly affordable multimedia speaker system is a commodity as boring in modern times as mouse pads or cables for a printer. But Sven Company once again was able to shake the incrustation of sleepiness off its experts, disproving stereotypes.
Review
As there is a rule that clothes count for first impressions, let’s begin with it. But I do not agree that the black-and-red suit of Sven MS-1040 associates with “Star Wars” or something similar. The war paint of speakers prompts personally me to connect my favorite steering wheel and start NFS street races or any simulator of “Formula One”. However, tastes differ, especially as because this does not change the essence of the matter: developers succeeded unambiguously in its designing. And the quality of its realization is not imperfect – not every model of a higher class is assembled so thoroughly.
The delivery package includes a small subwoofer with the lateral port of a phase inverter (13 cm loudspeaker is hidden in the interior of the advice), two two-way satellites with removable grills and juicy-red glossy cabinets on the elegant metal legs, as well as a detachable volume control with a big rubberized puck, which is so pleasant to revolve. This unit has also an additional 3.5 mm linear input enabling to connect quickly a portable player or any other suitable device not bending under a table n the search for the main pair of RCA connectors on the rear panel of the subwoofer.
And you will not have to do the same in order to turn on/off speakers: the power button backlighted with red diodes on the facade of LF unit is so big that it can be pressed even with a slipper. The design of satellites gladdens more: two 7 cm paper squawkers are located around a full-fledged dome tweeter. The full-fledged system! And having been already mentioned metal supports set a proper orientation to the emitters while placing speakers on the table. By the way, correct installation is not a key condition, which is able to change sounding of Sven MS-1040 drastically, starting from quite powerful and balanced to unpleasant-loud.
As the practice has demonstrated, the tone balance on the joint of middle and high frequencies becomes comfortable only in case if satellites are placed not closer than one meter from ears, but better - even farther. As can be readily appreciated, it makes sense to hide the subwoofer under the table. Provided that an owner of Sven MS-1040 ensures such simple conditions he has all chances to be pretty surprised by the sound quality of this system. Furthermore, the speaker system is able to sound the whole room generating quite vigorous sound with distinct low-frequency support. Well, where is my gaming steering wheel?
Conclusion
Sven MS-1040 is a very interesting speaker system, which combines a beautiful design, not high price and technological maximum within the framework of its class. But remember: satellites must be located as far from ears as possible in order to disclose its potential in full.
